Our Thanksgiving celebration is under way at school with students learning about the pilgrims, the Indians and the turkeys!

We loved reading The First Thanksgiving by Nancy Davis.

Have you spotted all the turkeys around the school? Take a look at these pictures featuring all our turkey creations:

To wrap up our Thanksgiving arts and crafts, students created Thanksgiving wreaths to decorate their classrooms by tracing their hands. On each hand, students wrote what they're thankful for:

 

Along with "The Turkey Song," students have loved singing "The Family Song" since Thanksgiving is all about sharing with your family. You can sing along at home by clicking the link to the song and the lyrics!

Even though we don't celebrate Thanksgiving, it's a wonderful time of year to share with our loved ones what we're thankful for.

¡Feliz Día de Acción de Gracias!

Ya estamos celebrando el Día de Acción de Gracias en el colegio y los niños han estado aprendiendo sobre los peregrinos, los indígenas y...¡los pavos!

Nos ha encantado el libro The First Thanksgiving de Nancy Davis ya que nos explica muy bien la historia de este día tan especial.

Seguro que muchos ya han visto algunos de los pavos que decoran las clases y los pasillos del colegio, pero por si acaso no pierdan las fotos.

Los niños también han hecho collares de amistad, iguales a los que llevaban los indígenas.

Por último, los niños han decorado la clase con unas coronas preciosas, las cuales representan por qué dan las gracias cada niño.

Las dos canciones que a los niños les han encantado ensayar a lo largo de este mes son "The Turkey Song" y "The Family Song". Pueden cantar la canción de la familia pinchando en el siguiente enlace: The Family Song

Aunque no celebramos el Día de Acción de Gracias aquí en España, aprender sobre esta parte de la cultura americana nos brinda una oportunidad para dar las gracias por todo lo que tenemos y por la familia que nos rodea.

Farm Animal Fun

Moo! Oink! Baa! Cock-a-doodle-doo! This week we had tons of fun pretending to be farm animals and making lots of farm animal noises!

We also made a farm animal mini-book, Guess the Farm Animal, to take home and practice our reading and vocabulary. Here are some pictures of the students putting the book together!

Down on the Farm

This week, our preschoolers will be starting the farm animals unit. We will learn about all the animals and the noises they make! In class, our students will work on an interactive mini book to practice their reading and writing skills.
Below, you'll find some of the vocabulary we'll be working on over the course of the next two weeks. Can you guess what noise each animal makes in English?

Esta semana, los niños empezarán con los animales de la granja. Aprenderemos sobre los animales y los sonidos que hacen (muchos sonidos varían de español al inglés). En la clase, los alumnos harán un mini libro para hacer hincapié en la lectura y la escritura. 

A continuación Uds. verán el vocabulario que trataremos durante las próximas dos semanas. 

Happy Earth Day!

Last week our preschoolers learned all about the importance of recycling and even practiced sorting the recycling into the different colored bins! Our preschoolers also made four beautiful Earth Day murals which are hanging at the school entrances. Make sure to take a look at them when you drop off or pick up your children!

This week, to celebrate Earth Day, the students will make a magnet out of recycled cardboard so we all remember to recycle at home. Additionally, to tie together both Earth Day and Book Day, we will read a book about Earth Day and taking care of our planet!

¡Feliz Día de la Tierra!

La semana pasada nuestros alumnos de infantil aprendieron sobre la importancia de reciclar y también practicaron a separar el reciclaje en los distintos contenedores. Además, todos colaboraron--sobre todo las clases de 5 años--para hacer cuatro murales para el Día de la Tierra. Quizás ya Uds. los han visto colgados en las distintas puertas del colegio. A continuación verán algunas fotos por si no han podido ver todos los murales.

Esta semana, en celebración del Día de la Tierra, los niños harán unos imanes de cartón reciclado para poder llevar a casa y ponerlo en la nevera. Así todos nos acordaremos de reciclar en casa. Es más, como esta semana coinciden el Día de la Tierra y el Día del Libro, leeremos sobre cómo cuidar a nuestra planeta en inglés.

Springtime Photos

Here are some photos of our preschoolers working on some Spring projects: butterflies and an Earth Day mural!
For the "What Color is your Butterfly?" project, the children practiced not only identifying all the colors, but also writing them in English. For our Earth Day mural, the children learned that we must take care of the fish, the sky, the trees, the birds and the Earth!

Aquí tienen algunas fotos de los niños trabajando en nuestros proyectos de primavera: las mariposas y un mural para el Día de la Tierra.
Para el proyecto "¿Qué color es tu mariposa?" los niños practicaron identificar y escribir todos los colores en inglés. Para el mural del Día de la Tierra, los niños aprendieron la frase "Hay que cuidar...". Cada niño ha coloreado una cosa que hay que cuidar para pegarlo en el mural (los peces, el cielo, los pájaros, los árboles y la Tierra).
Esta semana colgaremos más fotos de los preparativos para nuestra celebración del Día de la Tierra.
